The “untold story” of civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson is being made into a limited TV series and film with his youngest son, Yusuf D Jackson and Chisholm ’72: Unbought & Unbossed director Shola Lynch attached.

The project is currently untitled and will feature exclusive access to the famous Baptist minister and his family, in addition to unseen archival footage dating back 60 years. We will get a look back at his life, “in his own words, for the first time.”

Despite his having Parkinson’s, Jackson is said to still be “tireless, even relentless.”

Jackson, who was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, has always been an essential advocate for civil rights and has played an important role in American history. He is also a two-time candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination who later served as a shadow U.S. senator for the District of Columbia.

The untitled story will also be produced by Elman and William Keys alongside executive producers Francis Hopkinson and Ron Burkle backed by Expanded Media, Fraser and Simon Kilmurry for Docsville and Yusef Jackson backed by The Jackson Foundation.

“To be able to tell his story, in his own words, is a unique privilege and we would like to thank the Reverend Jesse Jackson and his family for welcoming us into their lives.” Elman shared.

Reverend Jesse Jackson has been a influential person in history and has inspired many, and this series will only aid his great works.
